1. There is no strategy

What role does your website play in the total marketing strategy? When is your website successful? If there are 1,000 visitors? If 10 applications come in per month? Or if the vacancies are filled? And how do you ensure that traffic comes to your website? How do you use your other channels? Do you use LinkedIn, Google Ads or construction in findability through relevant blogs? Make sure that you formulate your talls in advance and prepare a strategy with which you will achieve the objectives. Don't you do that? That is no problem, but be aware that you will miss opportunities to use your website to achieve the ambitions of your organization.

2. The content is not relevant

A website without valuable content will not be successful. You will see that visitors are only briefly on the website and there is no conversion. Visitors come to your site looking for information, solutions or products. Make sure you pay attention to the content of your website that is relevant to the visitor and responds to his or her need. Invest in the quality of all content on your website: not just the texts. Photography, visuals and videos are just as important.

3. No focus on the user experience

One of the main reasons why websites fail is a poor user experience. If visitors have trouble navigating, the website is slow, or if the content is not clear and valuable, they will soon leave the site. Ensure a clear menu structure, clear URLs, intuitive navigation and fast loading times to keep visitors involved.

4. Technical issues

Technical problems can be frustrating for visitors and lead to a lower involvement. Check regularly for broken links, ensure proper functioning on different browsers and loose errors quickly. Tip: Google Search Console is a valuable tool to ensure that your website works well together. With Search Console you can easily check on server errors, problems with loading the site and security problems. You quickly get an overview of any errors on the website and the searches where your website has emerged.

5. No attention to SEO

A lack of visibility in search engines can hinder the growth of your website. If your website is not properly optimized for search engines, you will not attract organic traffic. Research relevant keywords, optimize the content and make sure your website is SEO-friendly. If you mainly use advertisements with your websites to get traffic, be conscious: when you stop paying, your website also disappears like snow in the sun. A spread over different channels is therefore of great importance for the long term.

6. No good web design

An attractive and user -friendly web design is of great importance. An outdated or unattractive design can undermine the trust of visitors. Also make sure that the web design matches the brand identity of your company. Consistent use of the visual identity - think of color, font, image use, form and language - are important for brand recognition. A frequently made mistake is a design purely focused on lead generation. These are often cold, flat websites, with striking buttons, to make the visitor take action quickly. Nice for the short term, but you will fail in the long term. Put your visitor at the center, not the wishes of your sales team.

7. Insufficient security

Securing your website is essential to prevent attacks such as spam, data breaches and malware. It starts with the protection of the server, but also includes the use of a website firewall, implementation of the right security headers and a solid backup strategy. Countering a vulnerability is crucial for maintaining user confidence and preventing disastrous consequences, such as the loss of data or even irreparable damage to your website. By paying continuous attention to the security and maintenance of your website, you invest in a reliable and safe online platform for both you and your users.
